Research Interest
I am a PhD student interested in the use of nanotechnology in the field of molecular detection.

Research Project
An exciting concept in the field of nanotechnology is that the properties of nanostructured matter can be exploited in new functional devices. One promising class of applications is molecular detection, where nanoscale detection would enable libraries of molecular receptors to be integrated into assemblies capable of detecting multiple targets. We must address two specific ideas in order to facilitate such detection. I will investigate how to signal a recognition event, an event such as the binding of a target-molecule to a receptor. Secondly I will develop methods of transporting molecular recognition driven optical responses through micron-scale distances to dispersed locations where they can be spatially resolved, thus enabling multi-target detection.

Outside Interests
Music, spending time outside, reading, cooking
